Worldwide, 67 million children have no access to education, and more than 775 million people over the age of 15 are illiterate. Our members support educational projects that provide technology, teacher training, vocational training teams, student meal programs, and low-cost textbooks to communities. Our goal is to strengthen the capacity of communities to support basic education and literacy, reduce gender disparity in education, and increase adult literacy.

The Rotary Club of Burnaby is a proud supporter of the Burnaby WORDS program.
The Burnaby WORDS Writing Project, provides K-12 students the opportunity to become published authors. The program inspires hundreds of students, in Burnaby, each year to submit pieces of work to be judged by a panel of judges. From stories of adventure, journeys of introspection, lighthearted poetry and verse that is deeply profound, the limited edition WORDS Anthology offers something for everyone. The Burnaby WORDS Writing Project has nurtured and celebrated young writers in the Burnaby School District.
