Jim introduced Doris. She is from the Dominican Republic and has been in Canada for 21 years. This is the 30th year that Black History Month has been celebrated in Canada. This is a time to remember and celebrate the contributions of black people to Canada's growth. Many black people have been recognized for their contributions: Jean Augustine, Viola Desmond, Lincoln Alexander, Portis White, Oscar Peterson, Rosemary Brown as some examples - all walks of life and areas of expertise.
