Project Selection Criteria
 
DONATIONS POLICY
This policy is intended to establish guidelines and procedures for the effective and consistent administration of Rotary Club of Burnaby’s donations to projects and not for profit organizations for the benefit of the community, locally and internationally.
 
SOURCE OF FUNDS:
Funds used for projects are derived from fundraising programs conducted by the Rotary Club of Burnaby and donations the Club and/or its Foundation receive.
 
FUNDING INTERESTS:
Rotary Club of Burnaby prefers to award donations that focus on Rotary International main objectives.  To find out more please visit www.Rotary.org
Preference is given to those programs and services that benefit many people as opposed to a single beneficiary.  Rotary Club of Burnaby prefers to award donations for “capital“projects, (i.e. equipment, furnishings, computer supplies, etc.) vs. operational funding for an organization.  Each project is determined on a case by case basis.
 
ELIGIBILITY:
Rotary Club of Burnaby awards donations to not‐for‐profit organizations or agencies as opposed to individuals. Organizations need not be registered charities unless required as a result of source of funds.
 
ANNUAL and MULTIYEAR DONATIONS:
Rotary Club of Burnaby prefers to award donations annually as opposed to making multi‐year commitments.
 
GEOGRAPHIC SCOPE/LIMITATIONS:
Donations awarded by Rotary Club of Burnaby are to be generally used to benefit the community and residents of Burnaby and approved international projects.
 
APPLICATION PROCEDURES:
 
External Applicant
  1. Applicant organizations must apply in writing by completing the appropriate application (Financial or Non-Financial Request Form).  The application is available for download. 
  2. Submit the form to RotaryBurnaby@gmail.com
  3. The form will be reviewed to ensure it meets the clubs goals.
  4. Applicant will be contacted as to next steps.
  5. One key objective of the application is that the applicant must find members of the club to support their request.  To find that support, arrangements will be made to make a presentation by the organization about the work that the organization does to find a team champion.
  6. The team champion will then proceed to take the project further.
Note: Applicant organizations are asked not to directly market to club members.
 
Club Member Applicant
  1. Complete the appropriate application form.  (Financial or Non-financial Request)
  2. Submit completed form to the appropriate service director and to RotaryBurnaby@gmail.com .
  3. Service Director to review and bring to board as appropriate.
 
 
RECOGNITION:
Rotary Club of Burnaby requests that recipients of the donations acknowledge the Rotary Club of Burnaby in any public means normally used by the recipient of the donation, including public events, news release, website, social media and print materials. When it is appropriate, items of property acquired with funds from the Rotary Club of Burnaby will be marked with the Rotary emblem and/or the name Rotary Club of Burnaby. The Rotary Club of Burnaby may send out a news release to the media in addition to publicity by the recipient of the donation.
 
TIME FRAME:
There is no deadline for applications.
