This was an initiative of the volunteers of the Burnaby Lake Park Association, together with the generosity of the local Rotarians and Terasen Pipelines Inc., this area rich in habitat for birds and waterfowl is now easily accessible for all.

From the vantage point on the boardwalk, two active beaver lodges can be observed, along with an eagles nest and any waterfowl in the lake.  Eagle Creek, which flows nearby, is fish-bearing, and the area contains the greatest concentration of wood ducks in the Lower Mainland.

The Rotary Boardwalk was officially opened on March 23rd, 2005.
